Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
When Anchorman 2 was announced, before all the hype, the special appearances and Dodge commercials, I badly wanted to see it in the theater. Then I (and probably the rest of the country) got kind of sick of seeing Ron Burgundy. And then I forgot about Anchorman 2 until the DVD came out...
Anchorman 2 hits all the notes of the original - jazz flute, horniness, bad teleprompter reading, a badass news crew showdown, ice skating... (Oops, that last one was actually Blades of Glory.) Another sequel that also came to mind was Goldmember. The "stupid white man being intimidated by a strong black woman" joke was funny exactly once, but like Goldmember, Anchorman 2 kept beating that dead horse.
It was funny enough, but not worth seeing in the theater - I'm glad I saved my 9 bucks. There are some good quotable lines, although nothing on the scale of "smelly pirate hooker" or "60% of the time, it works every time." I still giggle whenever I think of "chicken of the cave." I would totally try "chicken of the cave."
In a related note, I did pass up Ron Burgundy's "Scotchy Scotch Scotch" ice cream from Ben & Jerry this past weekend. Butterscotch is not chocolate, so I picked up "That's My Jam" Core and "Peanut Butter Fudge" Core. I also finished a pint of "Americone Dream" this weekend, so I guess I am officially on a Ben & Jerry's binge. Where are my fat pants?
