We are most definitely those chumps that waited for Shang-Chi to hit Disney+ instead of going to the theater…Disney+ has made 2021 so much more bearable…

It was a fun film! The action was non-stop and it was really fun to watch different fighting styles, as opposed to the western fighting styles in regular Marvel movies. The tone was light and not too serious. I even spied a few Jackie Chan moves…

Even though the film was fun, I struggled a bit with Shang-Chi’s personality, or lack thereof. He just seemed to be missing something…but I think that was intentional. Shang-Chi was missing a lot of things – the parts of himself that he had hidden away and didn’t want to deal with. I’m thinking that was the “blankness” about him that I was picking up. I could’ve said the same thing about Thor in his first movie, though. I’m looking forward to seeing Shang-Chi’s character grow.

I ship Katy and Xialing. I definitely caught a vibe between them. Speaking of Xialing, I got weepy every time Shang-Chi referred to her as “Mei Mei”. “Mei Mei” was my mother’s nickname – she was a little sister, too. I’m looking forward to Xialing starting some shit in the MCU.

I cannot get enough of Wong! I think I literally screamed, “Wong!” The first AND second time he showed up. He seems like a fun dude to hang out with. He needs to keep popping up in different projects and giving disapproving looks to everyone.

It’s highly likely that we’ll wait until The Eternals hits Disney+ to watch…but you know what we won’t be waiting for? Spider-Man: No Way Home – there’s no way we’ll be able to ignore the hype!
